Windsor police raid illegal pot dispensary

An investigation into an illegal cannabis operation in Windsor has led to three arrests.

Windsor police said an investigation began earlier this month into a suspected illegal pot dispensary on Tecumseh Road East at Arthur Road. A warrant was obtained and officers from the Criminal Intelligence Unit, along with members of the Provincial Joint Forces Cannabis Enforcement Team, raided the business on Thursday.

An 18-year-old woman, a 19-year-old man, and a 42-year-old man were arrested at the scene. They have been charged with possession with the intent to sell under the Federal Cannabis Act.

Police would like to remind the public that, although recreational cannabis is legal across Canada, the city of Windsor does not yet have a legal brick-and-mortar cannabis store. Pot can only be legally purchased at a licenced retail store, or online at the Ontario Cannabis Store website.
