A truck driver from Windsor has been charged in a crash involving a fire truck in Kentucky.
Kentucky State Police said it happened Tuesday afternoon on southbound Interstate 65 near the town of Munfordville. State troopers determined that a collision had taken place at mile marker 65 and the Munfordville Fire Department had responded. The truck driver, according to police, failed to see the fire truck, which had its emergency lights on, and hit it on the rear driver's side, causing it to turn over.
Two people were treated at a local hospital for minor injuries and released.
The truck driver, identified by the KSP as 32-year-old Hardeep S. Gill of Windsor is charged with failing to give the right-of-way to an emergency vehicle and failing to give right-of-way to a stopped emergency vehicle. These charges have not been proven in court.
Police are using this incident to remind people to slow down and move over whenever emergency vehicles are present along the side of any road.
