The province of Ontario is warning young drivers that it doesn't pay to get behind the wheel when impaired.
A Windsor man is facing numerous charges after he was stopped for suspected impaired driving early Friday morning in Grand Bend.
Foot patrol officers from the Lambton County and Huron County detachments of the OPP noticed a vehicle being driven erratically shortly after 1 a.m. When the driver parked the vehicle in a lot, the officers approached it and spoke with him and determined that he had consumed an alcoholic beverage and was showing signs of impairment. The man was arrested and taken to the Lambton County OPP detachment where testing was administered.
Jarrod Parker, 19, is now charged with operating while impaired by over 80 milligrams of alcohol in the blood. He will have an opportunity to defend himself against the charge in a Sarnia courtroom at a later date.
This was one of six impaired driving arrests made in southwestern Ontario by the OPP this weekend.
With vacation season in full swing, the Ontario Ministry of Transportation is warning drivers under 21 that there is zero-tolerance for having any alcohol in their system while driving a vehicle, and that there are dire consequences for non-compliance.
