The likelihood of flooding has once again become apparent in Windsor-Essex.
The Essex Region Conservation Authority (ERCA) has issued a flood watch for all of Windsor-Essex due to the potential of heavy rain in the forecast through Saturday evening.
ERCA said forecasts of heavy downpours in localized areas that can range from 10-20 millimetres or up to 30-50 millimetres in a short duration. These isolated storms have the ability to cause ponding in low-lying and urban areas and flooding at the downstream reaches of major tributaries, which are currently sitting full due to the high lake levels.
The county-wide flood watch is in effect through Saturday evening.
ERCA already has a separate flood watch that covers all Windsor-Essex shorelines due to historically-high water levels on Lake Erie, Lake St. Clair and the Detroit River. This watch is in effect until August 2, at which time the situation will be reassessed.
