Police issue dozens of tickets in Windsor area enforcement blitz

Dozens of charges were laid this week during a commercial vehicle enforcement blitz in Windsor-Essex.

The Ontario Provincial Police, along with the Ministry of Transportation and Windsor Police Service conducted a two day, joint force initiative and completed a total of 47 inspections.

The OPP said three plates were seized and 60 charges were laid, including 27 involving vehicle maintenance, 17 surrounding driver conditions, and 16 various other charges.

The OPP is reminding drivers that it's their responsibility to ensure that the vehicle they are driving is safe for travel, whether it's a personal vehicle or a commercial one.

"Initiatives such as this will continue between our community partners in order to educate the public and enforce the laws that are already in place to help keep our communities safe," the OPP said in a news release late Friday morning.
