Construction starts on Kingsville Transmission Reinforcement Pipeline

Enbridge Gas starts construction this month on 19 kilometres of natural gas transmission pipeline in Lakeshore and Kingsville.

The $105.7 million project is expected to meet the growing demand for residential, commercial, industrial, and agricultural for natural gas in Windsor-Essex and Chatham-Kent.

Demand in the southern end of Essex County has increased with the growth of the greenhouse industry in the Leamington and Kingsville areas.

"Enbridge Gas has been delivering affordable and reliable natural gas to homes and businesses for over 170 years," said Enbridge Gas Southwest Region Operations Director Steven Jelich. "This history has provided us with significant experience in pipeline construction and operation."

Residents living near construction will be kept up to date on building activities. During the work, an environmental inspector will ensure the company complies with environmental permits, approvals, laws, and policies.

The project is expected to finish at the end of the year.
