Charges laid in Walker Road stabbing

A 25-year-old man is facing charges stemming from a weekend stabbing in Windsor.

Windsor police said it happened around 3 a.m. Saturday outside a restaurant on Walker Road near Foster Avenue. Officers found a man at that location suffering from non-life threatening stab wounds. He was taken to hospital by EMS for treatment.

Public information officer Sergeant Steve Betteridge said the victim left the restaurant shortly after 2 a.m. and became involved in an argument with other patrons in the parking lot. This grew into a full-blown altercation with six individuals involved. The fight soon ended and four of the people involved left the scene, but the victim soon realized he had been stabbed and paramedics were called. Officers interviewed witnesses at the scene and the Forensic Identification Unit was called in to process the area.

Later Saturday, a man arrived at Windsor police headquarters saying he was involved in the incident and was placed under arrest.

Alexander Tomasian of Windsor has been charged with assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace. These charges have yet to be proven in court.

The incident is still under investigation. Anyone with information who has not already spoken with police is asked to call Windsor police at (519) 255-6700 ext. 4830, or Crime Stoppers at (519) 258-TIPS (8477).
