Strike may be over in Lakeshore

A tentative agreement has been reached between the Town of Lakeshore and its 21 part-time facility attendants at Atlas Tube Centre.

Members of IBEW Local 636 have been on strike since March 5 when they walked off the job in a dispute over wages.

A ratification vote is scheduled for Friday night.

"The town is looking forward to the facility attendants returning to work soon after ratification of the agreement by both parties," the town said in a news release.

Workers earn $20.36 per hour, but the Town of Lakeshore claimed the union wanted $24 per hour, an offer it said is "not sustainable".
