Windsor Regional Hospital warns of fake job emails

A local hospital is warning the public about an email scam that revolves around fake job offers.

On Wednesday, Windsor Regional Hospital said "spam" emails that offer the recipient a position at the hospital are being sent out to the public.

According to corporate communications manager Steve Erwin, one series of the emails in question claims to make offers of employment from a “chief employment director” to people in other countries. For example, an email to an individual in India claimed to have been sent by “Windsor Community Hospitals” (windsor.hospitals@surgical.net) and was signed off by a “Timothy Brien, Chief Employment Director, Windsor Hospital.” Erwin said there is no such person working for them and the job title is non-existent.

The email, of which an example can be seen below, also contains the wrong address for the hospital, as well as multiple spelling and grammatical errors.

Erwin also said they have been notified by the Immigration Department at the High Commission of Canada in London (UK), which was checking on the validity of documents they had received involving “hospital appointments” to two British citizens who were applying to visit Canada. Those documents, signed by a “Sandra Henry, Office Manager”, are also fake, with no one by that name employed by Windsor Regional Hospital.

The hospital wants to make it clear that they will never send a written offer of employment to anyone unless they have applied for an opening through the proper channels, and the applicant has been interviewed by the hospital as part of the process. If you receive such an email, contact the hospital and do not respond to it, said Erwin.
