Windsor police probe latest in string of store robberies

Windsor police are looking into a convenience store robbery that resembles some recent incidents.

The latest incident happened around 7:15 a.m. Wednesday at a store on Tecumseh Road East near Lincoln Road. Officers were told that a masked man entered the store and demanded money. The suspect took an undisclosed amount of cash and merchandise and fled. He was last seen walking southbound on Windemere Road, according to Sergeant Steve Betteridge. No weapon was seen and no one was hurt.

Police believe this latest robbery may be connected to a series of robberies that took place over the past few weeks and within the general area.

The suspect in Wednesday morning's incident is described as a white male, 5'6" tall with a slim build. He was wearing black pants, black gloves and shoes, sunglasses, a green toque and a black ski mask, along with a light-green construction jacket that has a reflective X on the back.

A video taken from the store's surveillance system has been posted on the WPS YouTube page and can be seen below. The public is asked to take a look to see if they can recognize the suspect's mannerisms or clothing.

Anyone with information on this or any other incident is urged to call Windsor police at (519) 255-6700 ext. 4830, or Crime Stoppers at (519) 258-TIPS (8477).
