Man wanted by police after surviving collision with train

Windsor police are searching for a man after a stolen vehicle hit a train.

Police said they arrived to find a white Chrysler 300 on its roof approximately 50 metres north of the train tracks at Jefferson Boulevard and Queen Elizabeth Drive on Tuesday at approximately 3 a.m.

"It is believed the vehicle clipped the front of the train, causing the vehicle to flip," said police in a statement issued Tuesday afternoon. "It is also believed the train track warning lights were activated at the time of the collision."

The stolen vehicle was severely damaged while the train had minor damage.

Police said the male suspect ran away. He is described as black, approximately 25 years old, around 6'2", with dark hair in a bun, and wearing a burgundy sweater and black pants.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Windsor Police at 519-255-6700 ext. 4000, Crime Stoppers anonymously at 519-258-8477 (TIPS) or online at www.catchcrooks.com.
