Canada’s first female astronaut delivered an inspirational message of hope and wisdom in Windsor on Thursday.
Dr. Roberta Bondar urged a full house at the University of Windsor to reach beyond the stars because there are infinite possibilities and new ideas out there.
Bondar talked about space, innovation, connections and creativity and asked people to be engaged and alert to keep learning.
"Try to reach your potential and I think that's not the right thing to say because once you reach your potential, what then," said Bondar.
Bondar said don't ever stop trying to be better and keep striving for more.
"New ideas are out there, they are out there somewhere. They could be anywhere at any time," she added.
Bondar said it's healthy to keep dreaming but she never forgot that others came before her to make her dreams come true.
"It's about being able to have a dream and to have some support around you. Have some kind of experience that makes it worthwhile to make it real," Bondar said.
Bondar arrived to many school children in the audience with some wearing NASA spacesuits.
Dr. Bondar conducted 40 investigations in 13 countries with the Space Shuttle Discovery and is considered an inspiration to anyone with a passion for science and research.
She was the featured lecturer at the University of Windsor Science Society Speaker Series.
