Famous Canadian astronaut lands at UWindsor this week

Canada’s first female astronaut is coming to Windsor.

Roberta Bondar will be the featured lecturer at the University of Windsor’s Science Society Speaker Series on Thursday. The free public event is being held in partnership with the Faculty of Science.

Dr. Bondar conducted 40 investigations in 13 countries with the Space Shuttle Discovery and is considered an inspiration to anyone with a passion for science and research.

“Having Roberta Bondar at University of Windsor is going to give students and community members alike the opportunity to learn from one of the most decorated Canadian female scientists of our time,” said Anshika Jain, VP of the University of Windsor Science Society. “These kinds of events are crucial to inspiring the next generation of young scientists and we are very excited to be a part of that.”

Dr. Bondar's speech is between 4 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. on Thursday at Alumni Auditorium at the University of Windsor main campus.
