UPDATE: Fires at two Windsor duplexes investigated

Fire officials are looking into how fires started at two separate Windsor residences Monday morning.

Windsor Fire and Rescue said they were called to a duplex on Crawford Avenue between Wyandotte Street West and University Avenue West in the early morning hours on a report of a fire. That fire was confined to the upper unit.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and a damage estimate has not been released.

Later, at about 11:30 a.m. Monday, Windsor police were called to assist Windsor Fire and Rescue with a fire call on Drouillard Road near Alice Street. Heavy smoke was seen pouring out of the upper unit of the home. Windsor fire officials declared that blaze out within an hour.

Fire officials said the blaze has been deemed accidental and was electrical in nature.  Four residents have been displaced as a result of the fire and damage is estimated at around $110,000.

A firefighter also suffered a cut to the hand and was treated at the scene.
