Sting squashed 7-4 by Spitfires

The Windsor Spitfires defeated the Sarnia Sting for the second night in a row in a 7-4 victory on Friday.

Curtis Douglas kicked off the game for the Spitfires with a goal 3:11 into the first period, but the Sting were able to tie things up less than three minutes later.  Chris Playfair and Nathan Staios both responded with goals to give the Spitfires a 3-1 heading into the second.

Douglas and Playfair both scored their second goals of the night in the first eight minutes of the second before Sarna could add another goal to the board late in the frame. Tyler Angle added one more for the Spitfires 18:17 into the second, and Sarnia added one more as well in the final seconds of the frame to cut Windsor's lead to 6-3.

The Spitfires came out in the third with a quick goal from Will Cuylle 1:33 into the period. The Sting scored once more with just under 15 minutes left to play, but Windsor kept the rest of the game scoreless to retain their lead.

Spitfires goaltender Colton Incze made 33 saves out of 37 shots on net.

The Spitfires will battle the Owen Sound Attack next on Monday. The puck drops at 2:05 p.m. at the WFCU Centre.
