Sales of the Windsor-made Chrysler Pacifica and the Grand Caravan took another beating last month.
Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) has reported that only 6.963 Pacificas were sold in the U.S. this January. That's a 13 per cent drop from the 8,011 sold in January of 2018.
Grand Caravan American sales also dipped by 32 per cent. FCA said 7,113 vans were sold last month compared to the 10,409 sold during the same period last year.
In Canada, January Pacifica sales dropped by 47 per cent when compared to last January. The automaker said only 277 minivans were sold, down from 522 sold in January 2018.
Canadian sales of the Grand Caravan also declined by 43 per cent. FCA reports 1,947 vans were sold this January compared to 3,444 sold in the same month a year ago.
Pacifica sales in the U.S. have been hurting for the last three months after a record month in October. Pacifica sales in Canada have steadily dropped over the last few months after breaking records in June and July.
Workers at the Windsor Assembly Plant were on layoff for the first two weeks of January to adjust high inventories, according to FCA and have another week off later this month.
