Spitfires crash against Rangers 7-4

The Windsor Spitfires fell 7-4 to the Kitchener Rangers in OHL action on Friday.

The Rangers came onto the ice swinging by scoring a goal 14 seconds into the first period. Cole Purboo scored for Windsor 11:06 to tie the game, but Kitchener added another goal of their own to retake the lead.

The Spitfires tied the game again early in the second thanks to a goal from Jean-Luc Foudy, however, the Rangers surged ahead at the end of the frame by scoring twice. Kitchener scored three more back-to-back goals in the third to give them a 7-2 lead with just over seven minutes left in the game. Windsor battle back in the final two minutes with Luke Boka and Chase Campbell both scoring a goal, but the Spitfires couldn't catch up before the buzzer.

Windsor goalie Kari Piiroinen made 31 saves out of 38 shots on net.

The Spitfires will look to bounce back on Sunday when they take on the Spirit in Saginaw at 5:30 p.m.
