Windsor police escorted 30 people from a project to connect Highway 401 to the new Canadian port of entry at the Gordie Howe International Bridge.
Mark Butler, a spokesman for the Windsor-Detroit Bridge Authority, told BlackburnNews.com the labour disruption did not impact work on the bridge property, but did stop construction south of their property near the Ojibway Parkway and Highway 401. The authority owns the property to the north of the intersection.
The Ministry of Transportation began work overnight Monday to bring in girders for a bridge to extend the highway.
Windsor police arrived at the site after 30 members of Ironworkers Local 700 staged a labour disruption.
No one was hurt, and police did not many any arrests.
The Ministry of Transportation plans to shut down Ojibway Pkwy. at Hwy. 401 again at 10 p.m. Tuesday night to continue their project.
