Spitfires put down Wolves 5-4 in OT

Will Cuylle led the Windsor Spitfires to a 5-4 overtime victory over the Sudbury Wolves on Thursday.

Cuylle kicked off a back and forth game with a goal 6:15 into the first period, which Sudbury answered with one of their own just over two minutes later to tie the game.

Cuylle scored again early in the second, but the Wolves responded again with a goal 12:33 into the frame. Tyler Angle scored with just under three minutes left in the period to give Windsor a 3-2 lead heading into the final frame.

The Wolves continued to keep in line with the Spitfires by scoring early in the third, but Cuylle scored after 7:30 to complete a hat-trick and give Windsor a 4-3 advantage. Sudbury scored just after the 10-minute mark to tie the game once again and force OT.

Daniel D'Amico scored the game-winner 1:16 into extra time.

Windsor goaltender Kari Piiroinen made 21 saves out of 25 shots on net.

The Spitfires are in Guelph on Friday to face off against the Storm at 7:30 p.m.
