A 32-year-old woman has been charged in connection with a collision in Essex Sunday night.
Ontario Provincial Police officers responded around 8:30 p.m. on a report that a vehicle left County Road 18, struck a hydro pole and came to rest in a field.
Fortunately, the female driver and her male passenger only suffered minor injuries. They were transported to the hospital for treatment. The driver, though, showed signs of impairment and was arrested.
The driver, identified by the OPP as Nicole Ouellette of Amherstburg, has been charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and driving a motor vehicle in excess of 80 milligrams of alcohol in blood.
In accordance with the Ontario Highway Traffic Act, her licence has been suspended. The vehicle was demolished in the collision.
The section of Walker Road affected by the crash was closed overnight so investigators could complete their investigation and crews could repair the hydro pole. It has reopened.
These charges have yet to be proven in court.
