The cause of a row house fire in Walkerville this weekend is being listed as accidental.
Windsor Fire and Rescue Service officials said the fire started in the kitchen of 1264 Argyle Road. Six 105-year-old units at Argyle Road and Devonshire Court went up in flames at around 6 a.m. on Saturday. Nobody was hurt but several people were displaced.
Damage is estimated at $1.7 million. It was initially estimated at $1.2 million.
It took 44 firefighters to put out the blaze, which was declared out around 5 p.m. on Saturday.
John Lee, chief fire prevention officer, said the units were old but in compliance with the Ontario building code. He added that everyone is insured and the units will likely be demolished.
