OPP nab two alleged drunk drivers in Leamington

The Ontario Provincial Police has arrested two allegedly impaired drivers in Leamington, one after a crash on Westmoreland Ave.

Investigators said on Saturday afternoon, a white Ford commercial van went off the road, crossed a residential lawn, and struck a parked vehicle.

Police determined that the driver showed signs of impairment, and was arrested at the scene.

A 19-year-old from Kingsville faces two charges, impaired operation of a vehicle by alcohol and refusing to provide breath sample.

Then, on Talbot St. W that night, someone called the OPP about a vehicle that was swerving with fluctuating speeds and slamming on their brakes.

When officers pulled that driver over, they found an open bottle of alcohol in the vehicle.

The driver was given a roadside breath test, which he failed.

A 54-year-old from Lakeshore is charged with exceeding 80 milligrams of alcohol in the blood.

The OPP is thanking the public for calling and reporting possible impaired drivers.

None of the allegations have been proven in court.
