Two suspects sought in Halloween night shooting

Windsor police say two men are at large following a shooting last week near downtown.

Photos were released of the two suspects wanted in connection with the incident, which occurred around 9:45 p.m. on Wednesday at the rear of an apartment building on Ouellette Ave. near Hanna St., south of the downtown core. Public information officer Sergeant Steve Betteridge said that a vehicle was parked at the rear of the building, gunfire was heard, and the vehicle took off northbound on Dufferin St.

A 22-year-old man was shot once and later treated in hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

The WPS Major Crimes Branch has identified the first suspect as Guled Ismail, 25, from the Toronto area, pictured above. A warrant has been issued for him on the charges of attempted murder, robbery with a weapon and five counts of breach of recognisance.

The second suspect, pictured below, is wanted in connection with the incident. He is described as a black male, aged 20 to 25, 5' 10" with a medium build with dark hair in cornrows and pulled back. He also has scars above and below the left eye.

Both of these suspects are considered armed and dangerous. If you spot one or both of them, do not approach them yourself and call 911 immediately.

A third suspect in the case is in custody, said Betteridge. The female, identified as Julia Sweeney, 19, of Windsor, is charged with attempted murder and robbery with a weapon. All of these charges have yet to be proven in court.

The Major Crimes Branch is still investigating. Anyone with information is urged to call Windsor police at (519) 255-6700, ext. 4830. Anonymous tips can be submitted to Crime Stoppers by phone at (519) 222-TIPS (8477) or submitted online.
