Couple facing numerous break-and-enter charges

Ontario Provincial Police have charged a man and a woman in connection with multiple break-and-enters.

Police say the break-ins took place last month. On September 9, officers were called to a business on Fasan Drive east of Roscon Industrial Drive in Tecumseh on a report of a commercial alarm. When officers arrived the suspects were still on the property but fled by driving through a fence to avoid arrest. The getaway vehicle, which had been reported stolen, was later found abandoned in LaSalle.

A comprehensive investigation uncovered several other nearby properties also had been broken into. As a result, the couple was arrested and charged.

Jacob Brode, 33, of Windsor, is charged with five counts of break-and-enter, theft over $5,000, wearing a disguise with the intent to commit an offence, possession of break-in instruments, fleeing police, dangerous driving, mischief to property, two counts of driving while disqualified, four counts of failing to comply with terms of recognizance, and two counts of possession of stolen property under $5,000.

Chantelle Roy, 33, of Amherstburg, is charged with break-and-enter and two counts of possession of stolen property under $5,000.

These charges have not been proven in court.

OPP Constable Jim Root said properly functioning security cameras working in the area greatly helped police with identifying the suspects. They thank the public for taking a proactive approach to help fight crime.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call the OPP at 1-888-310-1122. Should you wish to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or submit an anonymous tip online.
