Windsor police said it didn't take long to nab the first driver impaired by cannabis after it became legal on Wednesday.
Two unnamed men were charged during R.I.D.E. spot checks on Thursday. One suspect was charged with driving while impaired by cannabis. The other man was handed a $215 ticket for driving with cannabis readily available in the car. Police suggest that drivers treat legal pot like alcohol and keep bags closed, out of reach and out of sight.
Police said two spot checks were done that day and just over 800 vehicles were inspected over a two hour period. They also said one three-day licence suspension was issued for drunk driving and a total of 38 tickets were handed out for various traffic violations.
