Windsor police cruiser rammed, man & woman charged

Several charges have been laid against two people from Windsor following a stolen vehicle investigation.

Windsor police said they began investigating a break and enter at a home on Smeeton Drive near Wyandotte Street in east Windsor on Monday in which a pickup truck was stolen. Officers spotted the stolen vehicle in a parking lot on Tecumseh Road near Drouillard Road Tuesday morning and tried to block it but the driver drove the truck into the front of an unmarked police vehicle, then took off, driving over landscaping and bushes in the area. No injuries were reported.

In the interest of public safety officers did not pursue the stolen vehicle, however, were able to identify the male driver. The stolen vehicle was recovered on Goyeau Street near Elliott Street Tuesday afternoon and a woman was arrested.

A man was arrested at a home on Langlois Avenue near Cataraqui Street Tuesday night.

Matthew Maskery, 33, of Windsor is charged with possession of stolen property, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and disqualified from operating a motor vehicle.

Amanda Labute, 30, of Windsor is charged with possession of stolen property.
