Windsor police are investigating an attempted abduction.
Police said officers responded to a report of a possible attempted abduction on Dougall Avenue near University Avenue on Thursday at around 5 a.m. Investigators said a woman told them that she was approached by people in a vehicle who called her over. She ran away and later reported the incident to police, where she expressed concern regarding the people but was unsure of their intentions.
Police said the details are unsubstantiated at this time and add they are not investigating any other similar incidents despite recent social media posts suggesting the possibility of attempted abductions taking place at a number of locations across the city.
Police are encouraging people to report suspicious activity directly to the police.
Authorities are reminding the public to always be alert of their surroundings and walk on well-lit streets near the curb and away from alleys, particularly, if you must walk alone at night. If you feel like you are being followed, go to the nearest well-lit place or populated area and call the police to report the incident right away. Also, try to attract attention from fellow citizens who can help.
