A couple of Comber men and a man from Ayr will have to pay fines for hunting infractions, and making a false statement to a conservation officer.
Conservation officers were inspecting deer hunters during a recent controlled hunt in Elgin County.
The men are accused of harvesting a buck on the first day of the hunt and not attaching a seal to it. The meat was concealed in a truck and taken to a home on the second night. The next day, conservation officers said the men shot and killed a doe and took it to a barn where it was dressed and hung, again without a seal attached.
The officers seized the deer and two firearms.
Ted Foreman of Comber pleaded guilty and was fined $3,750. Robert Foreman, also of Comber was fined $1,750, and Christopher Doolittle of Ayr was fined $1,750.
