A 22-year-old Windsor man is being remembered for his "big and generous heart".
Funeral services have been set for Ivan Bruno Ujevic, the Windsor man who was found dead last week in Toronto. Toronto police said he went missing over Labour Day weekend and is believed to have fallen overboard from a Toronto Island ferryboat.
Ujevic would have turned 23 on September 30.
According to the obituary released by Windsor Chapel, Ujevic was a criminology student at the University of Windsor, working toward a master's degree. His Facebook page also said he graduated from St. Thomas of Villanova Secondary School and was employed at Canadian Tire. He also loved playing soccer with the Windsor Croatia squad.
He is survived by his parents, Milan and Nada Ujevic, his grandmother Danica Ujevic of Croatia and siblings Danica, Ante and Tina. He is also mourned by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends in Canada and Croatia.
Visitation is scheduled for Monday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., then 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Windsor Chapel on Tecumseh Road E at Chilver Road, with a prayer service at the funeral home at 8 p.m. The funeral is set for Tuesday, beginning at the funeral home at 9:15 a.m., followed by a requiem Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Croatian Catholic Church. Burial will be at Windsor Memorial Gardens.
The obituary is asking people to provide donations to the Ujevic family in his name or the St. Francis of Assisi Church Building Fund. Condolences and cherished memories may also be shared online.
