A brand new Hummus Festival is coming to Windsor.
The first of its kind will be held September 23 from noon to 4pm at Catholic Central High School to celebrate diversity with Hummus and Hummus inspired dishes. Six restaurants have already signed up and organizers are looking for more.
Jay Katz, Executive Director of the Windsor Jewish Community Centre, says it's a chance for people to enjoy eachother's company and celebrate their similarities.
"We read so much in the media about our differences that we don't often take time to celebrate what we have in common," says Katz.

The festival will raise funds for the Windsor Jewish Community Centre, the Windsor Islamic Association and Catholic Central, who are organizing the event. Tickets are $5 at the door.
The best hummus will win an award named after late restauranteur Mark Boscariol.
Katz says hummus is a traditional Middle Eastern staple and the festival should be a good time.
"Who doesn't like hummus. Aside of our love of hummus, we are very pleased and proud to be in a place like Windsor where three diverse communities can come together like this and plan an event," Katz says.
Amin Varis of the Windsor Islamic Association says food brings people together.
"Catholics and the Jews and the Muslims are all coming together. We share many things in this city and why not know eachother a little better," says Varis.
