Campaign To Help Children Of Couple Killed In Crash

Catholic Central High School in Windsor is raising money to help the children of a couple killed in a head-on crash in Lakeshore.

A GoFundMe campaign has been set up to help the five children of 53-year-old Binh Doan-Thanh and 48-year-old Tran Ngoc-Thi. Their youngest is going into Grade 12 at the school, and the other four are graduates.

Campus Minister Jeff Gendron says the school community wanted to help the children continue their post-secondary education.

"They're doing as well as can be expected. They're holding up well," says Gendron. "We know they have a lot of support in the [Vietnamese] community, but as a school community we really wanted to try and reach out as best as we can."

The public is invited to support the cause, and Gendron says they hope to raise $10,000.

The couple were riding in a vehicle that collided with a second one on County Rd 42 between Elmstead Rd. and Lakeshore Rd. 103 around 5:30pm last Sunday. The driver of the other vehicle, 46-year-old Mike Kelic of Belle River, also died.

The Ontario Provincial Police continue to investigate the collision.
