Door-To-Door Mega-Hospital Fundraising Is A Scam

There is a new scam related to the coming acute care hospital making the rounds in Tecumseh and Kingsville.

Windsor Regional Hospital reports two people are going door-to-door in Tecumseh and Kingsville claiming to be raising funds for a new Sick Kids department at the new Windsor-Essex hospital.

Hospital officials say it is not a legitimate cause.

Windsor Regional Hospital does not engage in any door-to-door fundraising for the hospital, and urge the public to report such claims to the police.

They also say there is no affiliation with Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto.

Sick Kids Hospital says they do have legitimate canvassers in Windsor-Essex this week but it's for their Toronto operation only.

Windsor Regional Hospital says there are no plans for a Sick Kids department at the existing campuses or the new hospital.
