The Ontario Provincial Police have charged a 29-year-old Essex man with impaired driving after a car hit a gas meter.
It happened on Ridge Rd. near Gore Rd. around 9pm Tuesday.
When police arrived, a small black car was resting on top of the gas meter, and gas was leaking from the meter.
An officer had to help the driver out of the vehicle.
He was not hurt, but police say he showed signs of being impaired, so they charged the man with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and exceeding 80 mg f blood alcohol content.
