Even five years after hospital re-alignment in Windsor, some people in the city still get confused between Hotel-Dieu Grace Healthcare, and Windsor Regional Hospital's Ouellette Campus.
"There is still confusion. Many people will still refer to the downtown campus as Hotel-Dieu," says Vice-President of External Affairs Bill Marra.
So, officials at Windsor's hospital for complex care, rehabilitation, mental health and addiction services, and palliative care are rebranding. Except Marra says this has nothing to do with marketing, and everything to do with public education.
"It's less about geography or municipal address, frankly. It's more focused on our programs and services," he admits saying this one will zero in on the history and expertise.
"We're still focused on the original mandate of what our nuns, our founders, what our heritage is all about, and that is working with the disenfranchised, the marginalized and some of the most challenged individuals of our community," Marra explains.
"When you talk about being a 130-year-old organization, that automatically instills confidence," he continues. "It reminds everyone that we've been around a long time so we know what we're doing."
Marra says the hospital is also continuing to develop. He hopes to make a big announcement soon that will again change the way healthcare is delivered in Windsor-Essex.
