UPDATE: Electrical Failure To Blame For Downtown Condo Fire

Two people are displaced and another had to be taken to hospital after a fire broke out on the 12th-floor of a condo building in downtown Windsor.

The Windsor Fire and Rescue Service reported the blaze on Tuesday around 4:30pm, on the balcony of unit 1204 at the condo at 111 Riverside Dr. E near Goyeau St. The adjacent units also sustained smoke damage and one has minor fire damage.

One resident from a neighbouring unit suffered smoke inhalation and was taken to hospital for treatment.

All residents have been permitted to return to their units, except for the residents living in unit 1204

A fire investigator has attended the scene and determined that the fire was caused by an electrical failure. Total damage is estimated at around $125,000.
