Residents in LaSalle will have a say this week on the future of their community.
The town is hosting two public information centres on its official plan, which is a long-term planning document that all municipalities in the province of Ontario are required to review periodically. The official plan is a blueprint for planning and policy for the next 20 years.
Some of the ideas being considered include where and how LaSalle should grow over the next 20 years, how LaSalle can encourage a broader and more affordable range of housing to be built, and where commercial businesses can build and expand.
Other proposed policies involve infrastructure and services, and guidelines to help build successful neighbourhoods and districts which support transportation and can address emerging issues related to a changing climate.
Town representatives will be on hand to answer questions about the official plan on Tuesday and Wednesday in town council chambers at the LaSalle Civic Centre. Times are 1pm to 3:30pm, then 7pm to 9pm both days. There is also a planning committee meeting set for Tuesday at 5pm in council chambers.
