Spring Garden Natural Area Prescribed Burn

The Essex Region Conservation Authority is conducting another prescribed burn.

This one will take place within the Spring Garden Natural Area in the City of Windsor.

It will take place on April 9, 2018 on approximately 11 acres of the property.

The authority says the burning is necessary in order to maintain a healthy and diverse ecosystem in the Ojibway Prairie area, which is the largest stand of tallgrass prairie remaining in Ontario. The controlled burn is part of a comprehensive restoration plan for this sensitive area.

Neighbouring landowners have been advised of the burn.
