LaSalle's Kylie Masse can add Commonwealth Games champion to her impressive list of achievements.
She bettered the games record for a third time in two days, winning the women's 100m backstroke with a time of 58.63 seconds. She just edged out Emily Seebohm of Australia. Fellow Canadian Taylor Ruck finished with a time of 58.97 seconds.
"I'm always stronger on the last length," said Masse after the race. "I didn't panic. I didn't know where Emily was in the race. She usually goes out quite fast, so I was expecting we'd be close at the end.
"When I saw my name at the top of the board, it was a feeling of relief and happiness," she continued.
The win topped off a five-medal day for Canadian swimmers in Gold Coast, Australia.
