Windsor Police Prepared For St. Patrick's Day

Windsor police are encouraging everyone to enjoy their St. Patrick's Day responsibly.

Constable Andy Drouillard says people can expect a police presence throughout the city.

"In most recent years people have enjoyed their night responsibly and we haven't had many problems. Our main calls that we get are noise complaints, some fights, maybe disorderly people but generally, in recent past, everyone has respected others and enjoyed their night responsibly," says Drouillard.

He says the most important thing is to plan for a safe ride home whether that's a cab, Uber, or designated driver.

"If you don't make that plan to get home safe then you're more apt to making a bad decision towards the end of the night," says Drouillard.

Drouillard says party hosts also have a responsibility for their guests.

"For you to ensure people get home safe and they're enjoying their night responsibly and they're respecting neighbours," says Drouillard. "If you get unwanted guests and maybe things are getting out of hand and you need police to come out, definitely give us a call for that too."

If you see anyone driving erratically people are asked to report it to police. Drouillard says you can also expect RIDE programs throughout the city.
