A warm and rainy week could cause flooding across Windsor and Essex County.
The Essex Region Conservation Authority issued a flood outlook statement Friday night advising that excess rainfall and above seasonal temperatures forecast for southern Ontario on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, have the potential to cause flooding.
Up to 40 mm of rain is expected early next week as well as daytime temperature highs between 5 C and 10 C.
The conservation authority says due to the recent warm weather, melting snow and rain, the entire Essex region is already saturated with underlying frozen ground conditions. As well, flowing ice within open waterways can create ice blockages at bridges and culverts resulting in flooding of the low lying areas near the waterways.
Residents are urged to use caution near rivers, lakes, ditches, streams and ponds, as flowing water and standing water can be extremely hazardous.
