Barefoot Suspect Faces Numerous Gun Charges

A 42-year-old Windsor man is now facing ten firearm-related charges after police officers responded to a gun call.

The Windsor Police Service says on Wednesday around 3am, officers were called to a hotel on Howard Ave. just south of Edinborough after getting a report about a person with a gun. When they arrived, officers heard screaming from a room where a number of people were seen running away. While those present in the room were not cooperative, police learned there may have been a man with a shotgun in the room who had left the area.

About 90 minutes later, officers were called to a business near Howard and Charles St. for a man with a gun walking through the building, bleeding from his foot and carrying a shotgun. Employees safely left the building and told police that the man left a blood trail behind.

The man who had injured his foot at the business was seen running barefoot, took off heading east away from the building.

The Canine Unit found a suspect on Charles St. hiding under a back porch, arrested him, and seized a loaded shotgun. No serious injuries were reported.

A 42-year-old man from Windsor is now charged with possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace, possession of a firearm without a licence, possession of a firearm with a defaced serial number, six counts of possession of a firearm while prohibited, and handling a firearm contrary to the Firearms Act regulation.

Police say an investigation is ongoing.
