FCA Employees Donates $1.26M To United Way

For the 32nd year in a row, FCA Canada employees have contributed over $1-million to United Way Windsor Essex.

FCA employees and members of Unifor Local 444 donated $1,258,107.18 to this year's campaign.

"We are awestruck, I don't know any other word to use. I think it really is reflective of the generosity and the culture of these organizations, and we are so humbled by their generosity and their spirit of giving," says Lorraine Goddard, CEO of United Way Windsor-Essex.

Over the last 70 years the organization has contributed over $65-million to the annual campaign.

"It's remarkable and that's just really the tip of the iceberg with respect to how FCA Canada employees have been giving back to the community," says Reid Bigland, president of FCA Canada. "Just a couple of weeks ago raising over 1,000 winter coats, scarves, gloves and I think everyone knows who walks outside it's very much needed this time of year. Volunteer hours throughout the year, the Salvation Army, the food bank, and Sparky's Toy Drive that raised eight mini-vans full of toys. I'm very proud of the employees"

Last year, FCA donated $1.17-million which helped close to 18,000 people through the United Way.

"To not have this contribution you can see how many people would not be assisted, it would leave a huge gap in the community," says Goddard.

Goddard says the 2018 campaign is on trend to raise more that $5.2-million by the end of March.
