The Town of LaSalle has approved its budget in principle, and it calls for an increase of 1% over last year's levy.
The administration had proposed an increase of 1.75%, but staff have been asked to go back and find another $225,000 in savings.
If the council agrees with the proposed cuts, the budget will be officially approved at the January meeting.
"This is a responsible budget, and we have addressed a number of our concerns," said Mayor Ken Antaya.
On average, residents will pay another $19 for a home assessed at $200,000 next year.
