Union Gas Donates $30K To The Place For Life

A utility company is continuing its commitment to helping the Essex County environment.

Union Gas is pledging $30,000 to the Essex Region Conservation Foundation for its Place For Life campaign.

During an event Tuesday morning at the Holiday Beach Conservation Area in Amherstburg, three trees were planted to symbolize the campaign's three years of existence.

Foundation board member Karen Behune Plunkett says Giving Tuesday was the perfect day to reaffirm the partnership with Union Gas.

“This $30,000 investment will be multiplied many times over through this sponsorship,” Plunkett says in a press release. “Through these events, we hope to raise nearly $250,000 to enrich and sustain our region as the Place for Life.  It’s particularly fitting that Union Gas has chosen Giving Tuesday to announce this generous donation, and we are extremely grateful."

Union Gas will serve as a gold sponsor for three events held annually, the Conservation Golf Tournament, the Bike Tour, and the Super Santa Run. These are the top fundraising events on the foundation's calendar.

"We share ERCF's commitment to environmental conservation," says Union Gas District Manager Sean Collier. "This latest partnership is one of many over the past several years and we are pleased to continue with our support of their efforts."

Since 2009, Union Gas has demonstrated its support of environmental causes by providing Nature in Education programs to 10,000 students each year.
