The South Windsor Recreation Complex has a new name that may have you craving pizza every time you enter.
Local company, Capri Pizzeria has entered into a ten-year naming deal with the City of Windsor for $160,000. The recreation complex will now be called the Capri Pizzeria Recreation Complex.
"I really thought it was a perfect fit for us. First of all I've been here growing up my whole life, I've spent a lot of time in this place, free skates and that. But I knew the partnership and the advertisement, it's just a perfect fit for us," says owner Kevork Kalaydjian.
The new name was unveiled Wednesday morning at a ceremony with the City of Windsor.
"It's a really proud moment for us, I mean a very proud moment for us. Because we've been involved in the community for so long and growing up it was such a part of my life and now we're a part of it. It feels really good," says Kalaydjian.
Windsor Mayor Drew Dilkens says the funds from the sponsorship will go into improving programming and facility maintenance.
"It will be invested back into this facility either by way of upgrades or enhanced community programming and so the public at large will benefit from the sponsorship of a local company who's been a great community sponsor for decades," says Dilkens.
There are discussions of eventually having Capri pizza at the concession stand within the facility but, for now, the partnership is all in the name.
