Grants Spur Development Downtown

A vacant building in downtown Windsor could be getting a makeover.

BK Cornerstone Design Build LTD. is looking to purchase a former bar at 531 Pelissier St. and turn it into retail space on the ground floor and condo`s on the upper floors.  If engineering allows the developer would like to add additional floors for more condos.

BK Cornerstone Vice President Brent Klundert says council's recent decision to fund grants for downtown really contributed to his decision to move forward on the plans.

"The fact that council and administration both want to entice people to invest downtown also the current position of Windsor as a whole, wanting that core to grow and develop that's where it starts, that's what spurs investment on," says Klundert.

The sale of the building is not yet final. Klundert says conditions will be removed after they complete an engineering study and receive site plan approval from council.
