UPDATE: Police Shut Down Residential Street After Unknown Material Found

Police say there is no threat to public safety after an unknown substance prompted officers closed down a residential street in east Windsor.

The Windsor Police Service says early Friday afternoon, officers with the Drug and Gun Enforcement Unit executed a search warrant at a home on Gem Ave., and discovered the unknown material within the house.

During their investigation, officers closed Gem Ave. between Whispering Pines St. and St. Julien Ave. and are taking precautions to identity the unknown substance. The road was reopened just before 7pm.

Police say there is no threat to public safety as the material is contained to the one home.

It is unknown if anyone was in the home when officer responded to the home, but police officials say and update into the investigation is expected on Monday.
