The flu vaccine is now available at doctor's offices and walk-in clinics throughout the city and county.
The Windsor Essex County Health Unit says the influenza season is officially here and they encourage everyone over the age of six months to get the vaccine.
Last year, there were 160 confirmed cases of influenza in the region with 45 hospitalizations and six deaths related to the virus.
The strains of the virus change from year to year, and it can be hard to predict how severe each season may be. However, if the Australian flu season is any indication, it could be a bad year. The health unit says the best way to protect yourself is to get the vaccine and practice good hand hygiene.
Flu symptoms include fever, chills, cough, headache, muscle ache, runny nose, and tiredness.
