SIU Drops Investigation

Windsor police are off the hook for the injuries a man sustained during an incident in August.

The Special Investigations Unit has ended its investigation into the incident after concluding the man was injured before police arrived.

The police watch dog says the 27-year-old was attacked by a group in the area of Drouillard Rd. and Milloy St. on August 25, 2017. The attack continued at a nearby convenience store.

When police arrived, they found him injured and he was taken to hospital for treatment.

“The injuries to the man occurred prior to the arrival of members of the WPS. As such, this incident does not fall within the mandate of the SIU and therefore this investigation has been discontinued,” says Acting Director Joseph Martino.

No further action will be taken by the SIU.
