UPDATE: Code Orange Lifted At Windsor Regional Hospital Met Campus

Windsor Regional Hospital has lifted a Code Orange at the Metropolitan campus following extensive rainfall on Tuesday.

The campus declared the Code Orange late Tuesday afternoon after heavy rainfall collected around the campus and flooding was reported inside. Rain water was seen coming up through drains on the hospital's main floor and from the parking lots.

Hospital spokesperson Gisele Seguin says in an email that the emergency room, patient food services, pharmacy and diagnostic imaging were affected. However, general inpatient care at Metropolitan was not affected.

As of 10:30pm, the Code Orange has been lifted and operations are back to normal at the Met campus.  The Emergency Department at Met Campus is open.

MRIs were cancelled for Tuesday evening at the Met campus, however, CT scans are now back up and running. Appointments at the Ouellette campus continued as scheduled.

Elective surgeries for the Met campus scheduled for Tuesday night were postponed.

Essex-Windsor EMS also reported Tuesday afternoon that it was experiencing service delays due to the flooding. If you have a life-or-death emergency, call 911, but if it is not a major emergency, patients should go to a clinic or urgent-care centre.
